Didn't even know he was being tried? Whose going to protest now? I think the people need to Protest in Washington about Retiring early and having a $21,000 earnings limit! Then again many collecting Social Security never worked? Country will always have trouble and shootings happen?

From what I remember they all stood in hall for hours oh wait that was in Texas. When will those lawsuits start. Why was this person singled out? And now Scott will be filing a lawsuit to get lost wages and have his attorneys fee reimbursed then.... The people who survived whatever will want survival benefits and... Happy 4th of July

He was accused of failing to confront the school shooter in 2018.

He had one job to do……

some people are born hero’s , other are born pussies
Let's be honest guys ..... It's hard to confront a school shooter when u just ? your pants after hearing gunshots going off

He was collecting a nice check basically doing nothing.
It was time to get down and dirty he backed down.
He thought about himself.
He was armed.

Not sure he committed a crime, but he was a coward and he let children die. He has to live with that the rest of his life

I wouldn't want to be there

The guy let children be shot. On his watch. I can't even begin to imagine that. I am wired completely differently.

Fuck him.

And how does a jury not find him guilty?

HOW is a fine line. The last sentence at bottom of this tells me someone else was sleeping on the job?

The shooter got into the school before Peterson Arrived…. THIS is the HOW? From the little I know… How did he get in? And shoot 11 before Peterson, is my Question…

Peterson arrived at the 1200 building after the shooter killed 11 people on the first floor of the building. He heard shots fired and ran to a safe position and stayed there for 48 minutes, occasionally using his radio to try to relay information to other law enforcement.

Peterson, 60, was the first U.S. law enforcement officer to be prosecuted for his alleged actions and inaction during a mass shooting at a school.

The jury's verdict was seen by legal experts as a case that will set a precedent on how responding officers can be held legally accountable for their actions during a mass shooting.

Peterson's defense

In his closing argument, Mark Eiglarsh, Peterson's lawyer, told jurors that Peterson did all that he could during the mass shooting.

His case began and ended with the assertion that what happened on the day of the shooting was the fault of the shooter, not Peterson. He argued that the radio calls Peterson made and the "tactical position" he took outside of the 1200 building were "heroic."

"He doesn't know that there's one shooter. Nobody knows that. We have the luxury in this courtroom of hindsight," Eiglarsh told jurors.

Witnesses called by Eiglarsh described the confusion of that day, and said they couldn't pinpoint where shots were coming from either. Some also spoke positively to Peterson's character as a school resource officer.

Eiglarsh maintained that

Peterson was a scapegoat for larger systematic failings of the Broward Sheriffs Office and other public officials.

Go Reds….

I’d say you would’ve done the same.
Not so, IMO I’ll say as further details and reminders that BEFORE Peterson arrived 11 were dead. Question probaly on jurors minds was HOW did shooter walk in? Were all doors secure? Is their video? Was security at school watching you tube or security camera’s? How did Shooter get in school?
